Jessica and Matt met during their time at MTSU. When I asked Jessica what their love story is and how they met, she had the sweetest response:
“It’s hard finding words good enough to encompass our story. We met when our fraternity and sorority were paired for homecoming, and we ended up getting paired to dance together in the university’s annual fight song to welcome new students. From the day we met until today, we have been inseparable. We have spent almost every day together since then and instantly became best friends. From there, we quickly realized we were in this for the long haul. We got engaged 10 months later.”
Cue the tissues, right? The sweetest. Their story only gets better from there. Matt wanted the proposal to be a secret from Jessica, so he arranged to go ring shopping with Jessica’s mom and her best friend! Jessica said he planned the day of the proposal out perfectly:
“We started the morning going to Burgess Falls for a hike with the two of us and two of my closest friends. While we were on the hike, we got to this perfect view, and there Matt proposed! Once I said yes, he told me they had planned a BBQ, and our families would be at my house later to celebrate. He had already arranged for everyone to be there, and everyone knew besides me. It was truly a perfect day and it swept me up in a whirlwind.”
Well done, Matt! Well done! One of the things I strive to do with all of my wedding couples is to truly get to know them. The better I know my couples, the better I can serve them throughout their wedding experience and on their wedding day. Recently, I’ve been asking all my couples their favorite thing about each other. Not only does this help me get to know them as a couple, but it’s also a sweet way for them to take a break and remember the purpose behind all of the wedding planning and the reason for the wedding itself.
Jessica’s favorite thing about Matt?
“Hands down everything, but if I had to pick one specific thing, it would be his personality – his selflessness. He has such a strong desire to help everyone around him. He is so quick to put everyone above himself and he wants nothing more than to lend a hand to everyone he meets.”
When Jessica asked Matt what his favorite thing about her was:
“You’re telling me I have to pick one? Probably your positive fun spirit that you carry with you. You always just make everything better.”
Aren’t they just the SWEETEST?! We had such a fun time during their engagement session, and I absolutely cannot wait for their wedding next June!
