Jonna and her father, Mark Tharp, make their way to the dance floor for the father daughter dance. Emotions are high, and Mr. Tharp announces to the crowd, “This is going to be hard.” As they slowly sway back and forth, you hear sniffles and see tears collecting in eyes all around the room. There is nothing sweeter than the display of love during the father daughter dance. Suddenly, the music stops and the dance lights ignite. The two pull out black hats and sunglasses, seemingly out of thin air. This begins my now favorite father daughter dance of all time, “Soul Man” as originally performed by The Blues Brothers on the SNL skit. Tears are quickly replaced by laughs, and the joy felt in those moments never left the dance floor that night.
The same joy felt during the reception was present throughout Jonna and Heath’s entire wedding day. The ceremony took place at their beautiful family lake house in Dover, TN. Their joy was infectious and their love for one another was undeniable. Even as rain threatened the festivities with a few light sprinkles, Jonna and Heath effortlessly displayed contagious smiles throughout the day. It was a beautiful wedding and one I won’t soon forget.
Jonna and Heath, thank you so much for the opportunity to spend this time with you, your family, and friends as you became Mr. and Mrs. Hamby. It was truly an honor to be there and serve you on your wedding day as your photographer. My prayer for you is that as you continue this walk into marriage, no matter what life throws at you…remember the love you felt for each other on that day. I know that it will carry you throughout your life together.
